With Every Meeting The Follow Up Is Key

With Every Meeting The Follow Up Is Key

With Covid just hanging around and becoming a way of life, most of us have ventured out into the real world and started networking face-to-face at networking events. Yet, the online networking is still strong and hopefully will continue.

With both online and in-person networking, meeting people that have similar interests is important, but what is often left out is the follow up. Yes, following up and continuing the conversation post event is KEY!

I'm a big proponent of the follow up. It doesn't have to be long, it can be a 10-15 minute call to touch base a few days or weeks later. But it's important. Otherwise why are you wasting your time?

Here's what I do when I go to an online or in-person networking event:

  1. I make sure I get the person's contact info, via tap card, business card, LinkedIn connection, whatever.
  2. I then either that evening or the next day, I drop the a quick note saying how nice it was to chat and I ask to set up a quick follow up call.
  3. Once that call is scheduled, I make a note in my CRM that the call was set and how I met them and some details that I learned about them either by talking to them or "sleuthing" afterwars.
  4. Then I have the call and see if there's some synergy or a way I CAN HELP THEM

Did you see the last all CAPS part? HOW I CAN HELP THEM. It's a "Giver's Gain" mindset that needs to happen. If you can help them out, they will feel like they want to help you out.

So go out there and get networking. BUT REMEMBER, it doesn't end with the first meeting!

Programing Note: Next week I'm on vacation. So there won't be a Marketing Junto or Entrepreneur's Enigma podcast. I'll be back on schedule the first week in August (here's hoping).

Elon Musk is now a villain in Joe Biden’s presidential campaign | TechCrunch
Biden centering Musk in his campaign is a notable escalation, considering he spent most of his presidency seemingly pretending the billionaire didn’t exist.

Elon has too much power. And because of this is way to dangerous. The man can stop attacks from Ukraine on Russia because he controls Starlink. Not good.

Billions of Google redirects to stop working next year
Google announced its URL shortener service will stop working completely on August 25, 2025.

The Google shortener is going away. This is going to make all those shortened URLs dead and worthless. Honestly, Google doesn't care about anything or anyone other than themselves. Link rot is going to rambent when this shortener goes away. I mean it wouldn't be free to keep it going, but not that expensive. 😜😡
