With AI Overviews, Write Good Content
Artificial Intelligence is here to stay. Getting found and cited in the AI overviews has become a goal for most companies. How do you do this? Write good quality content.
I've been saying this for years, as has any other SEO/marketer who isn't a black hat (a person who does things in a more nefarious and not always above-board manner):
- Absolutely don't buy links!
- Don't have AI write your content.
- Write quality content and both humans and the robots will come.
The goal now for most marketers should be to show up in AI search. Be it Perplexity, Google, ChatGPT, etc. Because AI is here to stay. Let's use it to our advantage.
Getting your information cited and possibly getting clicks from AI search should be the what we're all focusing on right now.
Granted it'd be better to have direct traffic from the search engines, like it was in the good old days, but that's not reality now.
The 10 blue links, though still somewhat important, are being pushed farther down the page on Google and we know the farther down a user goes, the less likely they are to get clicked on a link.
So we need to focus on going where the users are. That's, unfortunately, in my opinion, in the AI overviews, ChatGPT Search, and Perplexity.
So it's adapt or perish.
That's where we're at.
We need to feed the AI beast and hope that we get to eat some of the scraps it leaves behind. 😜
