Podcasting Is About More Than The Numbers And Stats
Recently someone asked me for my stats on my podcast Entrepreneur's Enigma. I get decent numbers, but what this person misunderstood that the reach is far more than your subscriber count or the download numbers.

This really irked me. Someone who pitched to be on my show and I accepted to have a preliminary call with me then asked me what my subscriber and download numbers were.
They PITCHED me. Then asked me essentially to prove that I was worth their time. If you pitch someone to be on their show, do your research, first. It's not that hard. 🤔 Their excuse was that they weren't a premium member of the service they were pitching me on and couldn't see my stats. Another thing, if that data matters to you, pay for it.
Now am I being sensitive? Yes. But it rubbed me wrong, because it shouldn't be all about the numbers. It should be about having a good interview/chat and then getting clips and content to share beyond the podcast. And to be honest, my numbers are great, but that's not the point.
This is what I'm constantly trying to get my clients at Podcast Mastery to learn. That the direct ROI from a podcast, either appearing on a show or hosting one, shouldn't be the goal. It should be the ROI around the podcast. The personal branding opportunity, the ability to tap into someone else's network.
All of this is way more important than some arbitrary numbers and stats. Focus on the big picture. Focus on how you can provide value to the show and then how you can use the show to promote your own brand later on. And for the love of God, do your research before pitching!
Am I off base? Let me know!😉😏

Wow! Took them long enough.

This is a good move.

I agree to a point. But the follow up is key. Just pitching isn't enough. Get out in front of people and organizations but be sure to respond. (*personal experience here.)

This is a sad fact but something to be aware of.

Yea, I'm sure that's the reason. Not the fact that there are no guard rails.

Good insights here from the Google trials.

AI can be good, but also makes stuff real crap, like our education system here in the United States.

Of course Meta wants the antitrust trial thrown out.

Oops. Not good.

Good to see Spotify is iterating and also listening to feedback.

The Golden Globes and podcasting! Wow! Hitting the mainstream.

Ummmmm... yes it is REAL.

Interesting study. And no joke.

Oh this isn't scary.

A must read through.

Oops! AI gone wrong!

Clever idea.
🎙️Podcast Coaching 🎙️

I've been podcasting since 2010. During those 12+ years I've learned a thing or two about the ins and outs of the industry and approaching it the right way.
I've decided to offer podcast coaching as a service to share the knowledge that I've accumulated over the decade-plus in the industry.
