Podcasting & Brand Equity

Podcasting can be a great way to boost your brand equity and grow the exposure your brand has with your target audience in a way that other mediums don't provide.

By now you all know that I'm big on podcasting. 10+ years in the industry has made me see the value and freedom it provides.

From a brand standpoint, I see podcasting as an extremely valuable tool. It might not provide direct return on investment (ROI), but the brand equity it provides is unmatched.

Podcasting in many ways is a way for people to take your messaging with them when they are on the go or doing other things. It, unlike the blog, can be passive and yet still valuable.

You can't read a blog post and do the dishes after all — or at least not without making a huge mess. With a podcast you can. It's inherently "hands-free."

Another thing I've noticed with podcasting and brand equity is that podcasts allow a brand or a person to become an influencer in their chosen space. You can talk with the world about what you know and there are no gatekeepers telling you what you can and can't say. Like I said at the beginning, it's freeing and endlessly rewarding.

Though, you'll never going to be the in the top 3% of all podcasts out there, but in your niche you might.

As much as this saying is a cliche, the riches are really in the niches.

For the past year, I've been helping budding podcasters start their podcasts and get the momentum to keep going and grow. It's rewarding.

Have you started a podcast? Thinking about starting one? Let me know!

This sucks. Plain and simple.

WordPress Sentiment Defies X Drama, Remains Strong Across Platforms
On X last October, WordPress seemed to be in crisis. The high-profile lawsuit between WP Engine and Automattic, coupled with criticism of Matt Mullenweg’s leadership, sparked heated debates. But outside of the platform formerly known as Twitter, the data tells a different story: WordPress sentiment remained overwhelmingly positive.

I don't think people are down on WordPress as a project as much as they're down on Matt Mullenweg and his behavior.

WordCamp Sponsors Face New Scrutiny as WordPress Foundation Expands Trademarks
WordCamps are now enforcing stricter WordPress trademark compliance, with WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg and Executive Director Mary Hubbard personally vetting all sponsors as part of Automattic’s crackdown on unauthorized commercial use of the mark.
