Now WordPress.com Is Letting AI Agents Write And Post With Ease

I like AI for somethings, but taking your hands off the creation wheel and letting AI agents write and post on your site autonomously is a BAD IDEA!

Sarah Perez, in a recent TechCrunch article, reports that WordPress.com, the hosted version of the WordPress ecosystem announced that AI agents can now do most of the work for the site owners.

Sarah writes that even though WordPress.com only represents a fraction of the WordPress sites out there, WordPress as a whole powers 43% of all websites on the Web.

With these new capabilities, websites could be almost entirely created and run via AI agents controlled by humans. This lowers the barrier to setting up and maintaining websites; it may also help fill the web with content no longer written by people, but by machines.

Honestly, just don't do this. There's enough Artificial Intelligence slop out there we don't need one more spot lost to people not using their brain to be creative.

Look, I use AI as a tool to iterate and get ideas. But I don't let it write the final drafts or design the final sites.

Just because it's quick, doesn't mean it's better and will provide the same results of having a human more in the loop.

At launch, the AI agents will also be able to approve, reply to, and clean up comments; create, rename, and restructure categories and tags across the site; and fix alt text, captions, and titles to improve the site’s SEO. These changes and others are all tracked through the site’s Activity Log, the company notes.

Some of these use cases could be useful, especially when cleaning up from a comment spam attack – it happens more than you think.

But don't give up the reigns completely. The joy of the Web and what makes the Web so unique is the creativity that goes into the site and the writing.

Am I off-base? What do you think? Post your thoughts in the comments.
