I've been wondering this for a while now. But now more than ever, I think there is a slim chance that Google is going to lose a significant amount of market share to Artificial Intelligence and AI search.

Google is trying to get into more public AI, they've been using AI behind the scenes for a while now. But their Gemini system is still... wonky, to say the least.

I can see a world where Bing catches up (maybe not surpassing Google) and is a real threat to Google's dominance. I also see large language models like ChatGPT and Perplexity taking a nice big chunk out of Google's market share too.

There's also the ruling that says that Google is a monopoly. What that will bring about will be interesting to watch the impact of that as well. I'm thinking that the courts will just make Google stop paying for default placement. Breaking up Google over this doesn't seem likely.

In the end I'm excited to see what this new search landscape brings. Especially with AI search on the immediate horizon. SIt's definitely keeping us SEOs on our toes and adjusting (if we're smart).
