I've been thinking a lot about community lately. A dear friend and Philly community member (he was in a lot of the same groups I was in), died recently after fighting cancer. The communities I'm a part of are all grieving his loss and it got me thinking.

Some of the best communities in business have similar camaraderie too. A bunch of brands I follow make their employees the face of the products and services. They make business personal and welcoming.

When someone from those brand communities leaves, it does feel like a small loss if you're entrenched with that brand and the person's content.

Brands should strive for this personal connection in their online marketing. They should want to have a human face to what they do and sell – making it more personal and relatable.

This is a continual debate on LinkedIn. Should you be sharing personal stuff on the platform as well as business stuff? Yes, yes, yes. Because we're all human and we want to care about you and, if your brand is a good one, your brand as well.

RIP Reed! ✌️❤️😎
