Cold Emails... At What Point Do You Stop Emailing?

Cold Emails... At What Point Do You Stop Emailing?

Cold emailing is a thing. It’s when you email someone without any contact prior. Often you’re offering your services and trying to setup an appointment with that person.

I get hit with these cold emails multiple times per day and almost always just delete them.

For me it’s all about the relationship. Only a few cold emails have gotten responses from me. And even then, even fewer turn into a meeting or even less into business.

I get that people have success with it, but when do you give up and move on to the next person on your list.

I’ve had people give up right away. I hear from the once and then that’s it. But often I get at least a follow up email. Fine, I can live with that.

But it’s when you keep following up and I’m not responding that you should get a hint and STOP. Because now you’re getting sent to spam.

There are tools like Woodpecker (seriously, I don’t where they get these names) that will automate outreach, you can often tell who is using it because it asks for you to reply not interested. If you don’t, you’ll get follow up.

I’ve tried these in the past. Yes, I’m guilty of trying cold emailing. But I never had much success with it. And being on the receiving side is really annoying.

Look, I’m not against prospecting and sending emails, but stop at two. If you don’t get a response, give the person’s email a break. They might just not be into what you’re talking about. Heck, they might save your email and reach out later. That’s happened to me, plenty of times.

What do you think? Am I cold hearted? Should I respond and just stay not interested? Hit reply and let me know!

I was on Tim Melanson’s Work @ Home Rockstar podcast. It was a lot of fun talking about my journey and what I thought about continuing education. Hint, I lean toward masterminds and groups vs. coaches. Just a personal preference.
